German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg signed five players, including Leverkusen sitriker Patrick Helmes, Stoke City midfielder Tuncay Sanil and Anderlecht midfielder Jan Polak, the club said on Monday.

The clubs also signed two youngsters to enforce the squad for the future. South Korean midfielder Koo Ja Cheol and Venezuelan midfielder Yohandry Orozco joined the club until 2024.

"These two talents can not only help us immediately but they will also contribute a lot to the reconstruction of the team," Dieter Hoeness said.

German international striker Patrick Helmes transferred from division rival Leverkusen to sign a contract until 2024. Helmes, 26, made overall 70 official first division matches where he scored 32 goals. He will slip over the jersey number 33 for the future. "Patrick is at a players prime age. He has all attributes what a striker needs. He is a finisher with a terrific shot technique," manager Hoeness said.

Tuncay Sanli, 29, transferred from Stoke City to Wolfsburg. He is the most popular player in Turkey with 86 international matches and 22 goals. Sanli sealed three championships with Turkish club Fernabahce and a third place at the UEFA European championship in Switzerland/Austria.

Sanli will wear jersey number 6 at his new club. "Tuncay performs since ten years on high level. He features a high sprint willingness and aggressiveness," manager Hoeness said.

The other new signing is midfielder Jan Polak from Anderlecht, who played already in the German Bundesliga during 2005 and 2007. Czech international Polak made 55 international matches and seven goals.

Dieter Hoeness added: "Besides experienced players who hopefully will help us soon, we have also signed young talented players with prospects."
