The Beatles are arguably the most popular rock-and-roll band(乐队) ever.

In 1956, John Lennon started the group. He named his band “Black Jacks”, but soon after it became the “Quarry men”, owing this name to the Quarry School which he was attending. In 1957 Paul Mccartney joined the group. In 1959 their name changed to “Johnny and the Moondogs.”

Despite this popularity, the group was still not making any money. Apart from Georage, who was working as an electrician, all of them were students and in never-ending need for money. Pete Best joined the band to play drums and Stuart Sutcliffe played bass guitar. It was Stuart who first proposed renaming the group “The Beatles”.

In 1961 their first record appeared: “My Bonnie.” Twenty-seven-year-old-record-shore owner Brain Epstein heard the record and found the Beatles playing in Germany. By this time the group had the haircuts that would make them famous. He became their manager, taking them back to England. Soon after, Beatlemania swept the world. The group broke up in April, 1970.
