ACCRA, Sept. 20 -- Ghana has selected 10 athletes to compete in the 2024 IAAF World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Doha, Qatar from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6.
The team is made up of the quartet that won gold at the Africa Games this year.
They are Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Martin Owusu-Antwi, Joseph Paul Amoah and reserve Edwin Kwabla Godayi as well as sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah, who are all set to compete in the men's 100m event.
The women's 4x100 relay team of Flings Owusu-Agyapong, Gemma Acheampong, Persis William-Mensah and Hor Halutie are joined by reserve Deborah Acquah for the showdown in Doha, having qualified for the IAAF world championships at the Yokohama world relays earlier this year.
Meanwhile, two additional athletes who made the entry standards for the Worlds, triple jumper Nadia Eke and sprinter Josephine Anokye, have both been ruled out through injury.
