TIANJIN, Sept. 5 -- The Rio Olympics' bronze medalist golfer Feng Shanshan failed to retain the team title, together with her teammates, at the 13th Chinese National Games here on Tuesday.

During the 4-day final, the Guangdong quartet, headed by Feng, kept their lead in the opening two rounds, dropped to the third on Monday, failed to bounce back and finished in third after the fourth and last round on Tuesday.

Shanghai won the women's team title, Beijing took the silver.

Feng, 28, was the team member when Guangdong won the gold at the last Games. Getting used to playing tournaments overseas, Feng has become a big sister during the Games and loves to answer all kinds of questions from her teammates.

"On the first and second match days, I spoke English sometimes to my teammates," said Feng, "then I realized I'm back home. I'm happy to speak Chinese here."

"My teammates are great. We're together and support each other, no matter whether we played good or bad. It's a team event. All of us spare no efforts and give a hundred percent to the game," said Feng.

Feng told Xinhua she had higher expectation of herself and hoped to leave less pressure upon her teammates. "I should take more responsibility for the results, but I'm also happy to see more talented youngsters around here. People also love to see more fresh faces."

Feng also recommended younger golfers to seek better training environment to improve their skills more rapid.

"Lots of Chinese golfers want to have good coaches for their professional training. But if they are not going overseas, I don't think that is possible," said Feng, "I really want to bring back the very good training system from the United States, yeah, bring it back to China. Hopefully, there'll be more Shanshans coming out. I just want to give something back."

"I think I'm playing well this season so far, I already got one win in the hand, and maybe I'll try to win more. I still have 6 to 7 tournaments left. I'm confident that I'll have good results in Asia," said Feng.
